Beef. Is it for dinner?
If you haven’t seen the movie Food Inc. we suggest you check it out. It was mentioned on a recent post at Marks Daily Apple (awesome blog). One thing I don’t think you can hear enough in our gym is that what you eat DOES matter. Your nutrition is what makes or breaks your performance in the gym and overall health. We all know this, but how do we apply it? Sound off to comments. Tell us what changes you have made to your diet since becoming a member at MBS CrossFit. Fish oil or vitamin supplements? Began eating meat or eggs? More salads and vegetables? More water or less water? Share your diet changes and whether they have helped or not.

By the way, there is an MBS copy of Food Inc. being passed around the gym right now. Just ask one of us and we’ll gladly let you borrow it.

For all of you that have Iphones and Itouches, there is a new CrossFitter freindly application that can be downloaded on your device. It looks like you can track your diet, workouts, and calculate zone blocks with the app.

I got an email from the creators asking to spread it to our members. If you shoot them an email, they can give you a free download code.

Here’s more info

I found that the Paleo is something that works well and really isnt complicated. It definately works well for us old chubby guys. Other than Janelle yelling at me, It was paleo that allowed me to reach my muscle up resolution. You can pretty much go anywhere and get piles of meat, salads, vegetables and the occasional sweet potato. The problems start when you ask for the paleo friendly/gluten free beer. Its at that time when I’m asked to leave.

As far as my thoughts on todays workout: Geeze!

When I first joined MBS I continued to eat whatever I wanted (Santiagos & Olive Garden on a weekly basis). My strength improved but I wasn’t losing weight or gaining any lean mass. I didn’t start attempting to eat off of the Paleo Diet until Projected Jacked. I lost 17 pounds during projected jacked and it opened my eyes to just how essential a proper diet is. While I can’t say I stick to a strict Paleo Diet now, I still eat Paleo around 5 times per week and my strength, agility and endurance have all continued to improve.

Taking more fish oils or (Smart Blend CLA, DHA, EPA complex the Good Fat) I noticed a lot less soreness after WODs, however I always felt calorie deficent on strict paleo so I added in some sweet potatoes and brown rice seemed to help a lot with energy for workouts
