The handstand pushup can be a pretty intimidating thing for many people. With the exception of CrossFit, how often are you asked to be upside down? Never! But, the beauty of the handstand pushup is that it is so easy to scale. There are a hundred different ways to cook an egg and there are a hundred different ways to work a bodyweight pressing action. Don’t believe me? Come in today and lets work on it.

Workout
10 Deadlifts 225 lb./145 lb.
1 Handstand pushup
9 Deadlifts
2 Handstand pushups
Continue until you end up with
1 Deadlift
10 Handstand pushups

Just as Melissa is in the above picture, we will not accept a HSPU without a standard of touching your head to something. So, if you have to pike your butt in the air and do a modified version with a plate under your head, you will touch the top of your head to the plate.

Jay and I struggled through this WOD to finish just over 30 minutes.

Thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt, Sam, but I barely came in under the 40 minute mark on this one. Ahh, Handstand Pushups… I hate them almost as much as I love them.

Hard as they were, the last couple of workouts have been great. Keep it up, Pat & Janelle.
