August 22nd @ Flatirons CrossFit
October 10th @ MBS CrossFit
December 12th @ Front Range CrossFit

This is a three event series hosted by Flatirons CrossFit, MBS CrossFit, and Front Range CrossFit. The events will be a ten minute snatch set then a one hour rest and then a ten minute one arm long cycle clean and jerk. Divisions will be by bell size. Bell sizes will be 8 kg, 12 kg, 16 kg, 24 kg, 32 kg. The 8 kilo bell is for ages 12 and under and 55 and up.

Rules:
Snatch set will be a 10:00 set. The bell must go from between the legs to locked out overhead in one continuous motion. Athletes may put the bell down at any time and switch hands as often as they like.

Long cycle clean and jerk set will be a 10:00 set. It will be performed long cycle, meaning each rep will be a clean and a jerk. The bell must be cleaned to the chest, then jerked overhead and then returned to the chest. Athletes may put the bell down at any time and may switch hands as often as they like.

Scoring/Prizes:
The overall winner will be the athlete with the highest combined total of reps for both lifts for two of the three events. The prizes for the Colorado Kettlebell Series are being sponsored by Colorado Kettlebell Club. The overall winner in each kettlebell category is going to win a competition bell from Colorado Kettlebells that is the next size up. So the winner of the 20 kg class will win a 24 kg bell. We are going to award the 12 and 16 kg class for the women, and 20, 24 and 32 kg for the men. Additionally, there will be a separate masters
division (50 years and up) in the 12kg for women and 20 kg for the men.

Injury Free and Efficient Running Clinic – featuring the POSE method

When: September 5th, 2009

Broomfield, CO 80021

Cost to register: $75 Register Online Only

Contact: Patrick @ MBS CrossFit (720) 323-6242

Who taught you to run? If you are like most of us, the answer is ‘huh”‘. Nobody teaches us to run. We are taught to do many things and running is not one of them. The POSE method of running is becoming more popular among endurance athletes for it’s physics-type of approach to running. Its simple, injury-free, and efficient running technique.

Nicole Gibson’s coaching and training background began in competitive swimming. While in college she realized the affect overtraining had on her performance potential. After college she went on to be the head coach of a swim team of over 300 children ages 6-18 where she developed and honed methods of “quality not quantity” and technique over blind repetition. Over the course of four years the team became one of the dominating players in the Northern Virginia swimming community and many of her swimmers have gone on to swim in college and compete at the Olympic and international level. After her time as a swim coach she began graduate school in Philadelphia where she took up running due to time constraints. She quickly became enthralled with the sport and the technique driving the movements. She took a job at a local running store, began competing, and for two and a half years immersed herself in the coaching and analysis of runner form involving methods such as those presented by the POSE and Chi running techniques. She became a certified CrossFit Endurance coach in September of 2008 and has taught clinics for ultra-marathoners, military personnel, mountain bikers, high school runners, triathletes, and CrossFit affiliates. She is an avid CrossFitter and trains for endurance events relying solely on CrossFit and CrossFit Endurance. She also coaches a number of local triathletes in the Boulder, Colorado area.

Tactical Strength Challenge

The Tactical Strength Challenge (TSC) is a strength competition consisting of three events:

- A three-attempt powerlifting deadlift
- Pullups for max reps
- Kettlebell snatches for max reps in a 5:00 time period

This is a great test of your overall fitness. The TSC does not favor one individuals ability over another as it measures your overall fitness ability. The deadlift will measure your absolute strength and while it does favor the bigger competitor it only counts for 1/3 of your score. The Pull-up is a test of bodyweight strength and will favor the smaller athlete. The 5:00 minute snatch test will test your cardio and muscle endurance. This is an international event open to competitors of all abilities.

Tactical Strength Challenge
Saturday April 4th
Weigh-ins at 9:00am. Lifting Starts at 10:00
Cost: $25
We will be serving lunch upon conclusion of the contest.

Online Registration Only
